pembroke dock winter lantern procession
the twelve days of christmas was chosen as the theme for the fifth and biggest ever annual lantern procession attracting 700 participants and twice that number of spectators
in the run up to the procession primary schools and community groups worked on sets of lanterns which were then decorated with hand cut tissue designs made by volunteers
the communities first partnership made the centrepiece lanterns during a training session and members from the community made lanterns during the open weekend

reach the heights winter lanterns
funded through the reach the height programme and in partnership with SPAN arts spacetocreate worked with a group of young people from bush school autistic unit over six weeks
pupils learned how to make lanterns and created some of the sets for the pembroke dock midwinter lantern procession which had the theme of the twelve days of christmas

monkton winter workshops
monkton events committee with support from monkton communities first partnership commissioned a short programme of winter arts workshops funded by the communities first trust fund
beginning with a lantern-making training session followed by an open community workshop to create lanterns for monkton's christmas carol event the programme continued with a christmas decoration making workshop in the youth club and was completed with the arts and crafts group screen-printing their own sets of christmas cards

the way we see it
a group of 13 young people from the garth youth and community project worked over a six week period with sharron harris a freelance photographer/film-maker and pip lewis a visual artist on the creation of a photographic exhibition exploring life through the eyes of young people
the exhibition of 15 professionally printed images was shown during December 2011 and January 2012 in haverfordwest library and a further16 images were selected for printing as a set of postcards

christmas decorations
a group of 11 young people from action for children's hawthorn project spent a day together making christmas wreaths night light shades and hanging decorations from natural and recycled materials
the aim of the workshop was not only to create beautiful christmas decorations but to work together as a group learning valuable social skills

light up the night
funded by the arts council of wales and the milford haven port authority artists from spacetocreate worked with year 6 pupils from 5 primary schools in haverfordwest and with over 170 people aged 5-75 in open workshops during half term to make lanterns for an event to mark the turning back of the clocks
heb enw border morris led the procession which culminated in Haverfordwest castle for a fire drawing of a giant clock created by lee berridge

narberth food festival
during the education day two large scale portraits inspired by the work of giuseppe arcimboldo were made by 120 school children and were displayed at either end of the Main Food Hall marquee over the weekend

monkton mosaic
the monkton community mosaic, sited in the old priory community centre, is a 5 metre long mosaic mural depicting local landmarks and was commissioned by monkton events committee and supported by monkton communities first partnership
over 80 people, aged 4 – 74, were involved in the project, which was funded by: the communities first trust fund, pembrokeshire county council community chest and the co-operative community fund

out of the box : unfolding feasts
this project, which was a collaboration between iachus ceredigion and the centre for performance research at the university of aberystwyth, involved two groups of children from the primary school and family centre in llandysul, in an exploration of healthy food and, working over three months, towards the creation of a performance feast for a third group of young people from newquay primary school
the resulting performance entitled "the wren's feast" was one of five, each created by different artists, which together were documented on film and will be available soon

transition flags
the first in a planned series of projects with haverfordwest primary schools, more than 100 year 5 and 6 pupils from 4 schools, designed and made a set of transition flags representing different aspects of what it might be like to live in the town in 20 years time
the colourful set of 8 flags explored themes such as: local food; renewable energy; green transport and caring for each other; and were displayed in castle square to mark the opening of the event and subsequently at the green fayre

pembroke dock midsummer festival 2011
something in the air was the theme for a series of workshops in schools and with community groups in the weeks running up to the 2011 midsummer festival
a set of hand printed silk flags made by local schools celebrated biodiversity, as well as two giant birds of paradise and an enormous nest filled with brightly coloured eggs containing the hopes and dreams of everyone who got involved, which can be seen here

span summer arts workshops
as part of the span summer arts workshops spacetocreate provided two days of open workshops for children aged 4-14 years
the first day provided an opportunity to explore a range of print techniques to design and make an animal-inspired T shirt to take home and wear, whilst the second involved creating 2 and 3D designs from willow and tissue paper inspired by tales of the arabian nights

santes ffair easter workshops
A morning art workshop for children attending the santes ffair holiday club provided opportunities to design and print an Easter-themed T shirt using the silkscreen print process and design and make an easter wheel

action for children screen printing workshop
artists from spacetocreate worked with a group of young people from the Hawthorn project to create screen printed t-shirts inspired by the theme “how things change”.
the context for the 1 day workshop was an exploration of the participants' experiences of long-term support and the transition they have each made from child to adult services
